Our Name
Geomemes Research Inc. - geographic information system (GIS) and web engineering professionals based in Victoria, BC Canada. Formally "MapsWest Geoscience".
Geo (′gyō) - taken from the Greek word γη or γαια meaning "earth". Geo- is thus a prefix for many words, including:
* Geography, the study of the Earth and its features, including ecological and cultural systems
* Geodesy, also known as geodetics, the study of the measurement and representation of the earth
Memes (/mi:m/, rhymes with "beams") - [thank-you Richard Dawkins] - any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, habits, songs, and, of course, ways to map.
