Year completed:
2008
Description:

We developed a senior undergraduate course with co-instructor Claire Hutton on ’Indigenous Geographies’ at the University of Victoria. We ran a six day field trip, visiting indigenous Elders, Chiefs, administrators, planners and lands managers in six local indigenous communities. There are six bi-weekly evening seminars planned for the term. In the course we explore indigenous geographies concepts and examples grouped under the following sub-topics: Worldviews and Perspective; Conceptualizations of Nature and Environment; Indigenous Lands and Control; Geographic Tools and Methods; and Resource Management.
